Meesho Image-Description Mismatch: How to Fix It

Seeing a Meesho image-description mismatch or rejected listing? Check the photo, category, product details and variant, then fix the right field before you re-upload.

16 June 2026 • By Yumi Team

If Meesho says “product is disabled due to mismatch between image & description,” the photo, title or description, category, or selected variant does not agree. Compare them, correct the wrong field or replace the image, confirm current category-specific requirements, review the full listing, and resubmit. Do not re-upload the same files without correcting the mismatch. Final approval remains with Meesho.

What the image-description mismatch error means

This error points to an inconsistency within the listing. The image may show a different product type, colour, design, or variant from the details you entered. The selected category may also be wrong for the product shown.

That is different from a photo that is blurry, badly cropped, watermarked, or in the wrong file format. Those are image or file-preparation problems. A mismatch means the product shown and the listing record do not tell the same story.

Use this table as a diagnostic guide. These are practical checks, not an exhaustive list of Meesho rejection codes.

How to fix a Meesho image-description mismatch step by step

1. Save the exact rejection message

Copy the message or take a screenshot. Do not work from memory. The wording helps you separate a mismatch from a file, image-quality, duplicate-catalog, or other issue.

2. Compare the product, image, and listing details

Place the physical product beside the image and review the full record:

  • title and description
  • selected category
  • product attributes, such as colour, pattern, material, or sleeve type where relevant
  • selected variant and its assigned image
  • included items or pack details, if shown

Meesho’s own cataloguing material treats the image, category, and product attributes as connected information. They need to describe the same item.

3. Find the inaccurate element

Ask one question: which part does not match the product the buyer will receive?

  • If the photo is accurate, correct the title, description, category, attribute, or variant.
  • If the details are accurate, replace the photo with one of the correct product and variant.
  • If neither is accurate, correct both before you resubmit.

Do not cosmetically edit an accurate product image to support inaccurate listing data. The corrected listing should stay faithful to the physical item.

4. Correct the source of the mismatch

Use the correct category and current template or fields for that category. Then update the inaccurate details or assign the correct image.

Category choice matters. Meesho’s seller guidance says sellers select a category before uploading images, and its catalog training explains that categories affect the available templates and variation scales. Check the current Supplier Panel rather than relying on an old screenshot or field list.

5. Check the image itself

Once the image matches the listing, check for blur, inaccurate colour, poor lighting, awkward cropping, distracting backgrounds, text, logos, or watermarks.

For a broader presentation checklist, review the full Meesho product image guidelines. For dimensions, format, and file checks, check the current image size and file specifications, then verify the latest requirement in Meesho’s Supplier Panel.

6. Review the listing as one complete record

Do not approve each field in isolation. Read the title while looking at the lead image. Switch through every variant and confirm its image. Check that the category and attributes describe the same physical product.

A final human review can catch a technically clean image attached to the wrong SKU or variant.

7. Resubmit through the current seller workflow

Meesho’s seller training shows QC errors in the Catalog Upload section of the Supplier Panel. It instructs sellers to edit a single-upload catalog or correct and upload the error file for a bulk-upload catalog. The interface can change, so follow the current error message and on-screen instructions in your account.

When the problem is the image, not the listing details

The listing data may be correct while the image still needs work. Check for:

  • blur or poor lighting that hides the product
  • colour that no longer matches the physical item
  • a crop that removes important product details
  • text, logos, or watermarks
  • a cluttered background
  • a photo of the wrong item

Meesho’s public shirt-selling guidance, for example, asks for a clear front image in JPEG format without logos or watermarks, partial product images, or props. Treat that as category-specific public guidance, not a universal specification for every Meesho category.

A cleaner image will not fix an incorrect title, category, attribute, or variant. Correct the listing data separately.

When the problem is the listing details, not the image

If the photo accurately shows the product, inspect the record around it.

Check whether:

  • the title and description name the correct product
  • the selected category fits the item
  • attributes such as colour, pattern, material, or style match what is shown
  • each image is assigned to the correct variant
  • pack contents or other visible details agree with the photo

Keep the product image accurate. Change the incorrect data instead of altering the product’s appearance.

Yumi does not correct Meesho categories, titles, descriptions, attributes, or variant assignments. Those changes must happen in the listing workflow.

Pre-resubmission checklist

  • The image shows the exact physical product.
  • The selected variant has the correct image.
  • The title, description, category, and attributes agree with the image.
  • The final image keeps the product’s colour, design, shape, and included items accurate.
  • The crop, clarity, background, and overlays have been reviewed.
  • File and presentation checks follow current Meesho and category guidance.
  • No practical recommendation has been treated as a universal Meesho rule.
  • A person has reviewed the complete listing before resubmission.

Where Yumi AI fits—and where it does not

Yumi AI is product-photo workflow software for recurring ecommerce catalog work. It can start from supported inputs such as phone photos, flatlays, mannequin shots, and basic product images. You generate an output, review it, and download the image for your workflow.

Yumi may fit when your listing data is already accurate and repeatable image preparation is the bottleneck. It does not fix a wrong category, title, description, attribute, or variant assignment.

Every output still needs human review for product accuracy and the marketplace’s current rules. Yumi does not guarantee Meesho approval.

Once the listing data is correct, test one corrected product photo with Yumi AI. You can also review the Meesho product-photo workflow before deciding whether it fits your catalog.

Frequently asked questions

What does “product is disabled due to mismatch between image and description” mean on Meesho?

It means the product shown in the image does not agree with some part of the listing record. Check the title, description, category, product attributes, selected variant, and assigned image to find the inconsistency.

Should I change the photo or the product details?

Change whichever element is inaccurate. If the photo shows the exact physical product, correct the listing details. If the details are correct, upload the matching photo. Correct both when neither matches.

Can the wrong category or variant cause an image-description mismatch?

Yes. An incorrect category can create the wrong template or attributes for the product, while an incorrectly assigned variant image can show a different colour or design. Check both against the physical item.

Should I re-upload the same image after a rejection?

Not without diagnosing the issue. Re-upload only after correcting the mismatch or confirming that the image is accurate and fixing the inaccurate listing field. Follow the current instructions shown in the Supplier Panel.

Can Yumi AI fix a listing-data mismatch?

No. Yumi is an image workflow, not a tool for correcting Meesho titles, descriptions, categories, attributes, or variant assignments.

Does an AI-generated product image guarantee Meesho approval?

No. Yumi and other image tools cannot guarantee marketplace approval. Review every output for product accuracy and check the current Meesho requirements before upload. Final approval remains with Meesho.

Where should I check the latest Meesho image rules?

Check the detailed image guidance, legal and policy information, and any category-specific instructions shown in your current Meesho Supplier Panel. Marketplace rules and interfaces can change.
